I took these photos to experiment a little with black and white photos before i go to portland this weekend and take pictures.

  1. I love the shot of the roses, Natasha! I think your concentration theme is going to make for a wonderful portfolio as a finished piece. Something I would suggest for black and white photography & the roses image in particular that I've found makes a great difference in my b&w pictures themselves...have a strong light source! You have half your work cut out for you when there's appropriate lighting, and that's essentially the only thing you'll have to arrange for your photographs. Be it natural or artificial light, your photos will be accentuated with bold highlights and shadows further deepening the interest--giving your subject matter a definitive shape and structure--and greatly reducing the presence of grays. Can't wait to see you get started on your portfolio! :)

  2. I agree with Jordan's advice above:) Your compositions are working well in these images through movement, curves, and diagonal lines. You created contrast through the texture of the dog and the geometric pattern on the fabric. Looking forward to your cityscapes!
